Using only your brilliant imagination, you can create and play in the wonderful world of make believe. Here you can play-act being a princess, a knight, a unicorn or a dragon. There will be storytelling and lots of outdoor fun.

Under the sea is a marvelous place. Do you know about the hermit crab that carries his house on his back? Become a pirate or a mermaid. Make fishes, crabs and jellyfish. And of course there’ll be lots of storytelling and play.

All you need to be a caped crusader is a super-powered imagination, a cape and the desire to have fun all week long. Create your own superhero or supernatural creature with costumes, stories, drawing, and acting.

Calling all gamers! Experience live action construction and role playing. You have built amazing things in Minecraft, you have been the hero in Braid; now make it happen in real time game time.

Learn all about what’s behind MC-ing, DJ-ing and street art! Practice dance routines with professional dancer Lindsey Shields. Develop your hip-hop persona. Age-appropriate music and lots of fun to be had.

If the force be with you, young padawan, then you must join the Academy. Seek the skills of the Jedi knights while creating props, sets and costumes to complete your Jedi education.

Join the Younglings, Jedis-in-training. Learn about the force and train with the Amazon Grand Master. Make the art and costumes to put on a Star Wars performance on Friday.

Join the American School of Wizardry Prep. Make a special box to hold potions, dragon eggs and wands. Play quidditch and freeze dance at the Muggles’ dance parties. Your imagination supplies the fun and we supply the wizardry to make it magical.

Brush off your brooms for the 15th year of quidditch, spells, ancient languages and magical crafts. Join Professor Marcus Ambrosius (professional actor/storyteller Mark Lewis) for an action-packed week of fun, creativity and imagination. You may sign up for only one wizardry school this summer.

Fall down the rabbit hole with us. Have Mad Hatter tea parties, make wands, and create your own wonderland to play in.

What’s happenin’ kids? Visit our neighbors in Mexico through art, music and language. Learn a variety of Mexican visual folk art. Don’t forget to come back after camp to dance with Son Melao on Thursday night (see page 24).

Students will work in a focused, accelerated atmosphere to train intensively. Students should be 9 years or older with former dance/ballet experience. Supplementary seminars in stage makeup, stretching and strengthening, and how to sew and tie shoe ribbons for ballet. Includes Pointe I for girls, and 2x/wk Conditioning.

Camp Allegro offers students the ultimate music experience by combining music training with age appropriate workshops and craft activities. Previous experience is not necessary to join either camp, however, children with a background in music will also benefit from the camps as the performance repertoire will be tailored to each student's ability. Activities will include segments on music instruction, music appreciation, workshops with visiting musicians, and crafts - all leading to a final performance at the end of the week, available for friends and family. Performances will be held at the *Hult Center and **Cozmic Pizza at 4:00pm on the last day of each camp. Parents or guardians will provide transportation to the nearby locations for the final performance.

Each day the group will also take walking field trips (weather permitting) to picnic and have some free time. Locations include the Washington Jefferson Park, Skinner Butte Park, and the Hult Center. During our final day, the group will take a trip to the nearby Cafe Du Hall to reward their efforts with a scoop of ice-cream or sherbert (included in materials cost).

Tumble your way into an exciting week of circus fun! Explore the world of a circus performer and learn the history of the circus. Take a trip to Bounce to practice circus skills, including walking the tightrope, juggling, and trapezing. Things will get tricky when a magician comes to demonstrate some magic tricks. On Wednesday, amaze family and friends with a spectacular circus performance, complete with popcorn!

Inspired by Seattle-based Power of Hope (www.powerofhope.org), every August, Culture Jam hosts fifty diverse 14-18 year-olds on the Fair site for a camping adventure. The location is nestled in the trees and meadows of the area of the Fair site known as Alice’s Wonderland. At Culture Jam, creation, not consumption, is the overwhelming theme. On any given day, a smorgasbord of workshops ask campers to create and collaborate in a safe environment that seeks to strip away the conformity of teens' lives, build self-worth and discover how to create positive change in the world.

Do you want to learn to sew your own unique style of designer wear? Campers will work on projects using recycled fabric scraps and clothes to design a complete outfit or wearable item. Fashion Design camp will culminate in a fashion show festival, giving young designers the opportunity to showcase their handiwork for friends and family by strutting down the runway in their finished masterpieces. Field trips included.

Do you enjoy being in the spotlight or working behind the scenes? This class has something for everyone. Actors, actresses, directors and the production team will work together on a video project to view at the end of the week. Field trips included.

Whether you are an acrobat, the pop star, the stage crew or the audience, you will be a big part of creating the Friday carnival. Get inspiration from real life performers at the Fair.

Use your imagination to construct and build with a variety of building materials.

Join in for a week of food projects and recipes. Measure, chop, spread and mix up some fun.

We’ll put our imaginations to work this week. A bear hunt, moon walk, sculpting and creative artwork are on the agenda.

Try out various puppets and add your own personal touch to them. Make puppets of your own.

It’s a ten-ton week of “moai” fun than you can imagine! Arts: Soap boats, rubber duck races, moai statues. Sports: Ultimate Frisbee, badminton, b-ball.

A mystery mammoth is leaving clues to your daily adventures! Arts: Make your own Wooly and his Mammoth Adventure book, and sculpting. Sports: B-ball, tennis and extreme relay.

One, two, three, four – a rhythmic raft and tons of songs. Arts: Make drums, tambourines and craft stick rafts. Sports: Hockey, soccer and volleyball.

Dig for your own buried treasure and have a dino-might adventure. Arts: Make fossils, dino door hangers, and a xvgiant dino sculpture. Sports: Running, jumping and throwing.

Discover all the magical things about you! Arts: Family trees, photo books and I Am bookmarks. Sports: Favorite week – kids choose.

It’s a spacetacular week learning about the universe above us. Arts: Galaxy play-dough, flying saucers, make moon pies. Sports: T-ball and soccer.

One, two, three, four – dancing, songs and fun galore. Arts: Special guests teach dance styles and drum making. Sports: Soccer and beach volleyball.

Summer Escape is a blend of organized activities, specialized instruction and supervised un-structured play. Nature, Science, art without reason, tools, and techniques for making stuff: it's all hands-on, un-schoolish, out doorsy, and de-intenstive.

Each week includes a range of arts and activities, field trips to parks and pools, developing our urban mini-farm, visits to uniquely outdoor area and extensive hiking and urban exploration. We'll head out to find the coolest kid spots in town. We'll be visiting the Library and the other local points of interest depending on each group's interests. We'll be enjoying all of "Mad Duckling" plays at the Amazon Park and any special story telling at the public library.

Our home base is New Dream. Our "away-base" is Camp Avalon, which is a private forested retreat right on the Headwaters of the Amazon Creek in SW Eugene (At the end of West Amazon Parkway). This five acre camp provides us with hiking access to the Ridgeline trail, the westlands and the waterway system dropping down from the headwaters.

WEEKLY THEMES: Each week our kids help develop the direction and details of the week depending upon their interests and abilities. Each week includes pool and park trips, arts and crafts and lots of outdoor playtime with friends. There is also a trip that explores the weekly theme further out in the community.

June 24-28: Pizza Camp (build it and eat it. How many different varieties of tops and bottoms can we concoct?)

July 1-3: Our National Birthday Week! Hand tool Basics & Building: From bird houses to forts.

July 8-12: Clay Works. A local craftsperson will be helping us build, throw, pinch, decorate and fire uppour creations.

July 15-19: Wild and Crazy Salsa: Includes brainstorming and building old favorite and unheard of varieties to load onto our favorite chips. We'll make our tortilla into chips and visit some of the local fabricators of chips and salsa. Add the Latin beat and fancy foot work to smooth off dance moves too.

July 22-26: Creating Magic Science Tricks and demonstrations for the Fiesta on August 3rd.

July 29- August 2: More preparing for the fiesta. Making Carnival games, puppet shows, magic tricks and decorations.

August 5-9: Ice Cream Camp, gathering ingredients at the farm stands, trying different recipes for frozen yogurt, coconut bliss, sherbet and all related delights.

August 19-23: Glass Factory tour, berry picking and mosaics.

August 26-30: Field Trip and Food Fun Camp: Pizza favorites, monster cookies, climb all three Buttes and visit the Pool.

Immerse yourself in all aspects of the theater from character creation, costumes and set design, and performance. Go behind the scenes and tour local theaters, including the Hult Center, UO Robinson Theater, and the Wildish Theater. Watch a play by the Mad Duckling Children's Theater. Camp finishes with a full theatrical production for family and friends.
